Casbia joined forces with Champion, the iconic American sportswear brand, to present a special collection honoring Champion’s 100th Anniversary. For such a momentous occasion, Casbia worked with the brand to produce an entirely new silhouette, one that recalls key moments from Champion’s past while staying rooted in present trends. Consisting of one model in four colorways, the collection tells the story of Champion’s rich heritage in basketball. The core of this story is the CENTURY, an avant-garde high top bridging basketball’s most iconic eras: the “Dr. J” ‘70s - when court shoes first stepped off the hardwood - and the “MJ” ‘90s – when an explosion in performance tech took basketball to new heights. The shoe features an unstructured upper with visible vulcanized toecap, evocative of the ‘70s-era retro court shoes worn when Champion was the largest sportswear brand in America. That upper is then molded to a jagged, maximalist sole unit, a testament to the “more is more” ‘90s when Champion was the official NBA jersey supplier. The CENTURY merges basketball’s most iconic (and seemingly most disparate) eras into a celebration of Champion’s impact on the sport. The result is pure reinterpretation – a monument to an iconic brand, made in collaboration with another.
